ACC Rankings: October 3

  1. Virginia Tech: Still looking like a Top 5 team after beat West Virginia 34-17
  2. FSU: Cruised over Syracuse 38-14. Weatherford is improving.
  3. Miami: Jumped out early against South Florida and coasted to a 27-7 win.
  4. Boston College: Thumped Ball State. Big game against Virginia this week
  5. Georgia Tech: Off week in preparation for NC State this Thursday
  6. UNC: Looking tough after a win over Utah. Visit Louisville this week.
  7. Maryland: Flexed some offensive muscle scoring 45 on Virginia.
  8. Virginia: Marques Hagans and the 10 dwarfs on offense right now. BC awaits.
  9. Clemson: Three straight losses by a total of 13 points really hurts.
  10. NC State: Amato feeling the heat after a 0-2 conference start.
  11. Wake Forest: Should be higher, but one win does not make a season.
  12. Duke: Has a very tough slate ahead of them.

SEC Rankings: October 3

  1. Alabama: Vault to the top spot after blowing out Florida. The loss of Tryone Prothro will really hurt though.
  2. Tennessee: Have one conference loss, but also big conference win at LSU.
  3. Georgia: Big showdown in Knoxville this weekend.
  4. Florida: Showed some chinks in the armor against 'Bama.
  5. LSU: Offense showed major improvement against Mississippi State.
  6. Auburn: Letting the spotlight shine on others despite rebounding strongly from a rough start to the season.
  7. Arkansas: mostly by default since they did not lose this weekend.
  8. Vanderbilt: Missed out on a 5-0 start by losing to Middle Tennessee State at home.
  9. Ole Miss: Made a good effort at Tennessee to cover the spread.
  10. Mississippi State: Did not look good against LSU.
  11. South Carolina: Steve Spurrier now knows what it is like on the other side of the table.
  12. Kentucky: Bottom of the bottom.
