Week 5 Power Rankings

SEC has another strong showing this weekend with some of the bottom half teams giving some of the best teams in the conference a scare. Big games this week as LSU travels to Florida and the Vols visit Georgia.

SEC Power Rankings
1. Auburn
Survive a scare at South Carolina and still control their destiny in the West
2. LSU
Warmup for Florida with win over Miss St
3. Florida
Looked sluggish at times versus Alabama, but defense got the win in the end
4. Tennessee
Vols get the nod with convincing win over Memphis; SEC East showdown next week
5. Georgia
Second straight week of letting team play with them that should not
6. Arkansas
If the Hogs want to show teams they are for real this week @ Auburn is the time to do it
7. South Carolina
Should have taken Auburn to overtime. Newton has been spectacular at QB
8. Alabama
Hate to drop the Tide; more so because of Gamecocks performance
9. Vanderbilt
Starting to beat lower level teams like the big boys do
10. Kentucky
Best 10th ranked team in any conference, but it will be tough sledding in the East
11. Ole Miss
Rebels overtake in-state rivals by keeping Georgia close
12. Miss St
At least they scored more than once against LSU

The ACC was turned upside down this week with the upset win by Georgia Tech in Blacksburg. The Yellow Jackets now have the inside track to the Coastal Division. An unlikely showdown in the Atlantic Division as Clemson visits undefeated Wake Forest.

Another impressive offensive display vs La Tech
2. Georgia Tech
The score looked closer than it really was in upset of the Hokies
3. Boston College
Win over Clemson is the reason they are here
4. Virginia Tech
Time to go back to the drawing board; Hokies were beat at their own game - Special Teams
5. Florida St
Seminoles still have great shot at Jacksonville, but need to win out most likely
6. Wake Forest
Whoever thought the Deacs would be considered better than Miami?
7. Miami
Hurricanes barely beat Houston; airplanes were circling this weekend now its vultures
8. NC State
Does Amato have another win up his sleeve over his mentor this weekend?
9. Maryland
Off weak gave them a chance to scout GT for this Saturday
10. Virginia
Back to respectability of sorts with blowout of Duke
11. North Carolina
The Basketball team will be preseason favorites to win it all
12. Duke
0 combined points on offense against teams from Virginia (VT, Richmond, Virgina)
