Maryland and Duke... Get the Tissues
The Terps consider Duke their biggest rival in the ACC. The Blue Devils consider North Carolina their biggest rival. Many say Duke is playing the best of anyone in the ACC and I agree, but still think the Tar Heels will end the season on top. How did a Maryland team who had lost to American University and Ohio University beat North Carolina in Chapel Hill? A little known fact is that the Tar Heels had to bus home during the middle of the night Thursday after beating Georgia Tech and then had to play early Saturday afternoon. I like Duke in this one, but Maryland's emotion keeps them close for the first 37 minutes of the game.
Georgia Tech @ Virginia
These are two teams going in the opposite direction at the moment. Georgia Tech is on a two game winning streak and 2 points away from a three game winning streak. Virginia has lost their last four of their last five. The Cavaliers are really struggling to find someone else besides Sean Singletary who can consistently score. The key to this game will be turnovers for Georgia Tech. If they can stay to 15 or under then they have a very good chance to win on a campus that has been unkind to the Yellow Jackets in all sports. I like Virginia in a game that goes down to the wire.
Clemson @ Miami
After starting 14-1, Miami is suffering through a 3 game losing streak. Clemson has righted the ship after two teams from North Carolina threatened to capsize their NCAA Tournament push a few weeks back. I look for this game to be high scoring, up tempo game with two athletic teams. The Tigers will be able to control the boards with their bruising front court. Miami will counter with Jack McClinton and a team that loves to shoot 3's. I like Miami in a very close game at home.
