SEC Midweek Predictions

Tennessee @ Kentucky
This Kentucky team looks like it is turning the corner under 1st year coach Billy Gillespie. The Wildcats knocked off
previously undefeated Vanderbilt and lost two close road games at two of the better teams in the SEC (Miss St and Florida) in their last 3.

Tennessee languished in the first half against Ohio State before closing out the Buckeyes. Chris Lofton, a Kentucky native, has torched Kentucky in his first 3 years but the senior is really struggling this year; the Smith tandem and Wayne Chism have been leading the Vols. This could be a classic trap game because for as well as Kentucky has played in their last 3 they have just 1 win to show for it. Watch out for Kentucky freshman Patrick Patterson to have a big game.

Prediction: Kentucky

Florida @ South Carolina
The Gators are quietly near the top of the SEC again this year with a 3-1 start. Freshman Nick Calethes may have had his best game of the year in the OT win over Kentucky on Saturday. Florida is also doing it with defense holding opponents under their scoring average in 16 of their 19 games. The Gamecocks are struggling so far in what might be Dave Odom's last year. South Carolina is led by two transfers in their backcourt of Devan Downey and Zam Frederick. I think South Carolina gives Florida all they can handle, but the Gators survive.
Prediction: Florida

Season: 16-3
SEC: 8-2
