SEC Week 6 Wrap Up

Vanderbilt tops the SEC East standings after their 3rd SEC win of the season. Florida bounces back against hapless Arkansas. Alabama holds on for dear life against Kentucky.

Vanderbilt 14 Auburn 13
Vandy used backup QB Mackenzi Adams to defeat Auburn and improve to 5-0 for the first time since 1943. Adams came in for the injured Chris Nickson in the 2nd quarter and sparked a TD drive just before the half. Auburn came out firing going up 13-0 early, but a missed extra point cost the Tigers a potential tie later on. The Tigers only managed 208 yards of total offense.

I said I could not trust Auburn's offense to go on the road and win and I was right. Safe to say Tony Franklin's System DVDs are on the clearance isle at Wal-Mart.
My Prediction: Vandy Wins and Covers

Florida 38 Arkansas 7
The Gators used big plays from running back Jeff Demps to seal the deal against Arkansas. I thought Florida would come out gang busters in this game, but they were not blowing the doors off the hogs at half like I thought. But you can always count on Urban Meyer to put a few extra points on the scoreboard when he is trying to make a point. The Razorbacks are just abysmal in all facets of the game right now. QB Transfer Ryan Mallett cannot get eligible soon enough for the Hogs.
My Prediction: Florida Wins and Covers

Alabama 17 Kentucky 14
I thought Alabama would be due for a physical letdown in this one and I was spot on. The Tide moved the ball, but just couldn't punch it in when they had momentum. Give credit to this Kentucky defense as they stood tall most of the afternoon. This was one of those games that every championship team goes through. The ones with mental toughness get through these, others do not. Its too bad Rich Brooks could not have one more year with Andre Woodson because Kentucky would have really special with a QB this season.
My Prediction: Alabama Wins, Kentucky Covers

South Carolina 31 Ole Miss 21
Just as I thought, Steve Spurrier has been preparing the last two weeks for this game knowing that the Gamecocks season hinged on this one. Ole Miss returned to their turnover ways in this one as QB Jevan Snead struggled.

Tennessee 13 Northern Illinois 9
The seat under Fulmer is white hot after this performance. QB Nick Stephens looks have taken the starting job away for Jonathan Crompton. The Vols travel to Georgia this week in a must win game. Fulmer has been in this situation before in 2004 when he upset a dougle digit favored Bulldog team.

Last Week: 5-0 ATS, 4-1 SU
Season: 18-5-1 ATS, 16-8 SU
