Georgia-Kentucky Preview and Prediction

Georgia at Kentucky
Saturday 12:30 PM
Line: UGA -12

Georgia will try to heal their wounds after the beating that took place last week at the hands of Florida this week against Kentucky. The Wildcats are bowl eligible for the third straight year under Rich Brooks and bring a nasty defense into this East Division game.

Keys to the Game:

1. Can the Bulldogs run on Kentucky?
When Georgia has lost this year, Knowshon Moreno has been held in check (and under 100 yards). The sophomore had just 65 yards last week. Georgia has been out rushed in both of their losses. Kentucky's defense is average against the run, but very good against the pass. I think they may put eight players in the box trying to make Georgia beat them through the air.

2. Can Kentucky take advantage of a weak Georgia secondary?
The Wildcats have been very average passing the ball in 2008 averaging just 187 yards per game. Meanwhile, Georgia is giving up over 210 yards through the air. That pass defense has been especially poor on the road allowing 263 ypg.

3. Special Teams
UK had two kicks blocked against Florida to start the 63-5 rout. Georgia would love to have a big special teams play to give their struggling defense some help.

Prediction

UGA has won 11 of the last 12 in this series, but lost the last time in Lexington when Matt Stafford was a true freshman. Georgia's national title hopes are gone and likely their SEC title hopes too. Still, Georgia has way more talent than Kentucky and has been very good on the road under Mark Richt (sans Jax). Georgia wins this one going away.
