Reviewing the Big Games Around the Country for November 1

The whole 2
nd half of Texas-Texas Tech I was thinking Texas would come back and win because they are so good at doing that.
That DB Gideon had the game in his bread basket and dropped it on the last drive. Red Raiders need to send him a thank you card.

It will be interesting to see where Texas Tech ends up in the polls. When Texas beat #1 Oklahoma the Longhorns jumped from #5 to #1. Can Texas Tech jump from #7 to #1? Not likely.

I also wonder where Texas will be ranked? Will they drop behind Oklahoma who they beat? I hope not. That is one thing I hate about the polls. Texas and Oklahoma are very close and if they played 10 times it would probably be 5 wins each. But the Longhorns won it when it mattered and it is not an Oregon State-USC situation where the Trojans win that one nine times out of ten.

Texas Tech can’t celebrate too much. Okie State rolls into Lubbock next week and they are good.

I wish the Big 12 had done like the SEC and preserve those old rivalries. Oklahoma and Nebraska should play every year. Even though Bo Pellini may not want to.

I figured Michigan would struggle this year, but not this much. I was sure Rich Rod would eventually turn things for the better at Michigan. I still think he will, but I wonder if the fans will have the patience. The Wolverines bowl streak is stopped at 37 – the longest current streak.

Ho’ hum USC is right back into the national title race. And Oregon State doesn’t look like such a bad loss.

I think West Virginia is starting to get back on track and should win the Big East, but Pat White’s health will be key.

I am glad Notre Dame lost. Lou Holtz will still predict 9 wins this season. That would mean a win over USC in LA. Ok Lou. Way to be unbiased.

My Top 10

  1. Alabama
  2. Penn State
  3. Texas Tech
  4. Florida
  5. Texas
  6. USC
  7. Oklahoma
  8. Oklahoma State
  9. Boise State
  10. Utah

Notice how I have Texas above Oklahoma? I doubt we see it this way though.

Georgia Tech-FSU, Florida-Georgia, and other thoughts around the country a little bit later.

Last Week: 0-4 ATS, 1-3 SU
Season: 23-13-2 ATS, 24-14 SU
