Georgia vs Vanderbilt Prediction

Georgia at Vanderbilt
Wednesday 8PM No TV

The Georgia Bulldogs and Vanderbilt Commodores will both be looking for their first SEC win of the 2008-09 season. Vandy has won four the last five in this series but the series is virtually even over the last 10 years. Both teams are led by post players - Georgia by Terrance Woodbury and Trey Thompkins and Vanderbilt by A.J. Ogilvy.

Georgia's struggles this season are mostly because of turnovers (16.9 pg) and poor FT shooting (63%). The Bulldogs get a break because the Commodores are forcing just 13 turnovers per game from their opponents.

Vandy and UGA have a common opponent in Georgia Tech. Both lost to the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta. However, he Bulldogs have had a rough non-conference schedule losing to Texas A&M- Corpus Christi and squeaking out a one point win over Wofford. Vandy's four losses are to respectable opponents including surprising Illinois-Chicago.

I think Georgia has the talent to keep it close if they can hold onto the ball. The odd configuration of Memorial Gym is tough to overcome, but mostly it will be too much A.J. Ogilvy in the paint for Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt wins by 5-15 points.

Season: 0-0 SU

  1. Agree with that prediction... Playing in that freak show of a gym with so many young players is a recipe for disaster. Georgia will be lucky to keep it inside of your 5-15 prediction.
