South Carolina vs Georgia Prediction

Georgia Bulldogs @ South Carolina Gamecocks
Saturday 5PM
TV: Fox Sports South

The Georgia Bulldogs travel to Columbia looking for their first SEC win of the season and hoping to break a nine game losing streak overall. The Gamecocks have been streaking lately as well, but more in the positive manner. Only a four point loss at Florida this week kept South Carolina from winning their fifth straight.

Records:

Georgia 9-13, 0-7, 0-5 (away), RPI #221
South Carolina 16-5, 5-3, 13-1 (home), RPI #46

Series:

South Carolina is 5-5 in their last 10 vs UGA
South Carolina is 3-2 in their last 5 at home vs UGA

Players to Watch:

Georgia - F Terrance Woodbury, F Trey Thompkins, G Corey Butler
South Carolina - G Devan Downey, G Zam Frederick, F Mike Holmes

What Georgia must do to win...
Honestly, Georgia has to play their best game of the year to beat this South Carolina team right now. They need Woodbury and Thompkins to have big games and they need to limit Downey and Frederick offensively. The Bulldogs can't afford to have their average of 17 turnovers against this team which forces nearly 20 per game.

What South Carolina must do to win...
Have Downey and Frederick control the temp and play their game. The Gamcocks can't foul like they did on Tuesday against Florida when the Gators attempted 40 free throws.

Prediction:
I think South Carolina should take this one relatively easily barring a horrible game by Downey and Frederick.

South Carolina wins by 13-19 points

Season: 12-13 SU through 2/6

  1. i agree with you that the chance SC loses to the much weaker UGa is slim to none.
