1. North Carolina Tar Heels vs 4. Florida State Seminoles
Saturday 1:00 PMTV: Raycom/ESPN
Both of these teams survived big scares on Friday needing buckets late to make it to the ACC semifinals. UNC defeated FSU in their only meeting of the season 80-77 on a running three pointer by Ty Lawson in Tallahassee. With their win over Virginia Tech, I think Carolina has wrapped up a number one seed and everything after wards is just gravy. The Heels have won the last two ACC Tournament finals, but fell short of the big prize...a National Championship.
The Seminoles are trying to improve their seeding from a five or six seed up to a four seed and a win over the nation's top team would certainly do that. FSU has a lot of height inside which could bother Hansbrough down low. The senior was held to 8 points by FSU in the first meeting. Also without Lawson, FSU doesn't have to worry as much about their transition defense.
I think Roy Williams knows his team is a number one seed and doesn't want to push this team too far making them tired for an NCAA run. I would not be shocked to see Roy plays subs early and rest his starters more than usual. I think FSU's height will bother Hansbrough again and FSU's Toney Douglas carries the Seminoles to the ACC Tournament Finals.
