SEC Power Poll After Week 1

This season I am delighted to join the SEC Power Poll panel. The Power Poll features some of the best SEC blogs, including many who particpated in the season previews here. My first ballot has been submitted and went something like this.

1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. Ole Miss
4. LSU
5. Georgia
6. Tennessee
7. Arkansas
8. South Carolina
9. Kentucky
10. Auburn
11. Vanderbilt
12. Miss State

Here is how I would break it into groups.
Group 1: Florida, Alabama
Group 2: Ole Miss, LSU
Group 3: UGA, Tennessee, Arkansas, South Carolina, Kentucky, Auburn, Vanderbilt
Group 4: Miss State

Florida and Alabama look to be the class of the league again. Alabama may have found a weapon opposite Julio Jones which could make them very dangerous if the o-line can gel.

I don't take too much negative away from Ole Miss' slow start because they finished fast against Memphis. LSU had to travel cross country to play a BCS team in their coaches first game so I am going to be judgemental about the Tigers not covering.

From 5 to 11, it is really hard to differentiate right now. Georgia was the only team in the conference that disappointed me this weekend and it is too early too tell about Vandy, Kentucky, and Auburn even though all had impressive wins over lesser competition.

Miss State may be a lot better, but again hard to tell when you are playing Jackson State; you can only look bad when you play an FCS opponent.

Looking forward to South Carolina-Georgia this weekend as well as LSU-Vandy, Miss State-Auburn, and Tennessee stepping outside the SEC hosting UCLA.
