ACC Power Poll: FSU, Virginia Tech Vie For Top Spot

Week 8

1. Florida State
The Seminoles almost tried to give away the number one spot with a letdown against Boston College

2. Virginia Tech
Slowly, but surely I think the Hokies are rounding into form and look to be the favorites for the Coastal. I think

3. Miami
The Hurricanes did exactly what I thought they would this week - come out flat against Duke. Miami just isn't ready for prime time this season

4. NC State
Meet the ACC's version of Jekyl & Hyde this season. Still they have done well in conference play and they could grab control of the Atlantic if they beat FSU next Thursday at home.

5. Georgia Tech
This team could go one of two directions. They could go 4-1 down the stretch and play in the ACC Championship or 1-4 and end up at .500

6. North Carolina
The Tar Heels finally break the curse of Charlottesville

7. Clemson
Tigers have a huge game against Georgia Tech who has been their nemesis in the ACC the last three seasons. Is Dabo up to the task?

8. Boston College
The Eagles showed a lot of fight playing FSU down to the wire. We'll if that was a picture of things to come or a flash in the pan.

9. Maryland
After a nice start to the season, Maryland appears to be settling into a losing season.

10. Wake Forest
Bye week comes at a nice time after losing five straight.

11. Virginia
Is it swimming season yet (since the Cavaliers basketball program doesn't look great this year)?

12. Duke
Four words every Duke fans loves to hear: Basketball practice has started.

  1. Little surprised that you have UNC at 6th. I personally would have them switched with NC State. NC State came out like gang-busters, but I think their defense is starting to show holes.

The rest of rankings are about as I would have them. Nice job!

  2. It's the ACC wheel of destiny again this year. State has looked really good in conference play thus far. Big test against FSU next Thursday.
