Bruce Pearl: "In The Things We Did, We Did Not Gain A Tremendous Recruiting Advantage"

Bruce Pearl was on 790 The Zone in Atlanta a few weeks ago. I bring this up because basketball practice started last weekend and only Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina fans may know this.

Pearl is good friends with the host of the show, "Steak" Shapiro, and has appeared numerous times before. Despite their friendship, Shapiro and the other hosts did not toss only soft balls at the Tennessee coach. Pearl was asked if he thought he would be the head coach at Tennessee going forward and he thought he would.

In my opinion there is not way Pearl survives this long term. He picked the wrong time to lie to the NCAA whose Infractions Committee is in a bad mood and in rebound mode coming down hard on anything and everyone.

I see the NCAA further penalizing the Volunteer basketball program (Pearl is already not allowed to recruit off campus) and putting AD Mike Hamilton (who is also under a lot of fire) in a position where he would only be keeping Pearl as a gameday coach and that is too limiting in big time college basketball, a level Pearl has raised Tennessee to.
