Clemson - Georgia Tech Prediction: Paul Johnson's ATS Dominance as a Road Underdog

Georgia Tech, at 5-2, travels to Clemson to face the 3-3 Tigers Saturday. Dabo Swinney's Tigers are a -5.5 point favorite coming off a 31-7 blistering of Maryland last week.

This game is the best rivalry in the ACC with all apologies to Miami-FSU. These two teams met for the ACC Championship last year in a 39-34 Yellow Jacket win. Twelve of the last 15 games have been decided by five points or less including both meetings last season.

The Yellow Jackets are riding a four game winning streak in the series and have won six of the last seven. To say Georgia Tech has been a thorn in Clemson's side recently is an understatement.

Clemson's Death Valley is one of the best perceived home field advantages in the ACC although the Tigers have not always protected their house.

Georgia Tech lost to Kansas earlier this year on the road, the worst loss in the nation this season by the Sagarin Rankings. They also got blistered at home by NC State before reeling off three straight wins.

Clemson lost a very tough game at Auburn and then lost to Miami turning the ball over six times. North Carolina is the only common opponent whom Tech beat, but Clemson lost to.

The winner of this game will be the team that wins the turnover battle.

But against the spread I have to go with the underdog Jackets. Paul Johnson is 5-2 in Atlanta ATS as a road underdog and going back to his days at Navy Johnson is 18-6 ATS as a road dog.

Georgia Tech may not win this game, but I think they are a good play at +5.5
