Slow Starts Hurting Georgia Tech

I have been harping a lot recently on two areas where Georgia Tech is not performing anywhere near last year: time of possession and third down conversions. These two statistics are crucial to Tech because if successful the offense can grind out first downs and keep their weak defense off the field.

On the season, the Jackets are hitting on just 38% of their third downs compared to 52% last year. They are also not as dominant with the clock this year either holding the ball for two less minutes per game.

Where both of these stats are most evident is in the first quarter of games.
