SI Ranks Georgia's Trey Thompkins Best Player In The SEC

Junior forward Trey Thompkins was ranked the best player in the SEC by Sports Illustrated. UGA Guard Travis Leslie comes in at number five on their list.

SI describes Thompkins:
"As the SEC's returning leader in points (17.7) and rebounds (8.3) per game, Thompkins is one of the nation's truly elite big men. The gifted power forward could have entered the 2010 NBA draft, but felt he had more to accomplish at Georgia. A multi-faceted big man, Thompkins can score with his back to the basket or facing up. Last season, he became Georgia's first All-SEC first-teamer in seven years. He enters the 2010-11 campaign as a heavy favorite for conference player of the year and looks to guide the Dawgs back to the Big Dance."

Both Thompkins and Leslie could be first round picks in next year's NBA Draft, but my money is that they come back because of the inevitable lockout which would be a boon for Head Coach Mark Fox.

Kentucky checks in with two freshman in the top at #3 with Enes Kanter who is still awaiting word from the NCAA regarding his elibility and #7 with another freshman Brandon Knight.
