How New Florida Head Coach Will Muschamp Almost Ended Up At Georgia Tech

The Florida Gators named Texas Defensive Coordinator and “Coach In Waiting” Will Muschamp as their new head coach to replace Urban Meyer.

At 39 years old, Muschamp takes over one of the top 5 jobs in college football after spending nine of the last 10 seasons as the head defensive coach for some of the nation’s top programs at LSU, Auburn, and Texas.

Muschamp was in such high demand nearing the end of his first season in Austin, the Longhorns named him as Mack Brown’s eventual successor as head coach of Texas. His name has been linked to several high profile coaching jobs in the last two years all of which he has turned down until now.

But lets back up to the off season prior to his arrival at Texas in 2008 and before he became the hottest commodity on the coaching market.
