SEC Bowl Records By Coach

The SEC has been dominant in bowl games recently, especially in BCS bowls.  Here is a breakdown of the head coaches bowl records all time.  I like to look at coaches' bowl records when filling out my pick sheet because many times these games are determined by preparation.  Players change, but coaches stay the same.

Nick Saban, 6-6
Gene Chizik, 1-0
Bobby Petrino,3-2
Les Miles, 5-3
Dan Mullen, 0-0
Urban Meyer, 6-1
Mark Richt, 7-2
Steve Spurrier, 7-9
Derek Dooley, 1-0
Joker Philips, 0-0

I am sure Saban's .500 record is a little surprising considering of how well respected of a game planner he is especially on the defensive side of the ball. His record at Alabama is 2-1 thus far.

Gene Chizik will be coaching in just his second bowl game as a head coach, but so will his counterpart.  Everyone knows Chizik never made it (close) to a bowl game at Iowa State.

Bobby Petrino looks to extend Ohio State's bowl losing streak to the SEC to 0-10.

Mark Richt has the best bowl record of any head coach with more than five appearances.  The UGA coach lost his first bowl game going 7-1 since.
