The ACC Basketball Revival Is Still A Few Years Away

For three very good reasons:

1. New Kids On The Block
Four new coaches were hired this past off season and four more were hired the previous year. Even Roy Williams struggled in his first year at a top five program like North Carolina. Extrapolate that out to teams like Georgia Tech, NC State, and Wake Forest and it is going to be a while.

2. Hello....Goodbye
Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports points it out well the talent drain the ACC will experience heading into next season

"The ACC was hit hard by graduation and the NBA draft. All five players on the all-ACC first team will be gone, as well as two players on the second team and three players on the third team. Including the top five honorable mention vote-getters, only seven of the top 20 players in the conference are returning next season."

3.Big 2, Little 10
UNC should be preseason #1; Duke will also be highly ranked.  But after that who is your third best team?  An FSU team that lost its top two scorers?  A Virginia Tech team that lives for Selection Sunday?  A Maryland program in decline with a new coach? Wake Forest fresh off one conference win a season ago?  Two teams does not make a strong conference.
