ACC Basketball: NBA Minutes Played and Draft Figures

Pretty impressive stats, especially for a non-basketball school like FSU. Kudos to Leonard Hamilton for this one.

The ACC also finished as the #1 league in the Rivals Cup standings with Duke as the number one school.  The Blue Devils also led the league in minutes played.

*The ACC had six players selected in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft … the ACC has had six or more first round draft picks 11 times overall, including four times in the last eight years.

*The ACC is the only conference to have had at least four first round picks in each of the past four NBA drafts (2009-2012).

*Over the past four years (2009-2012), the ACC leads all conferences with 23 first round drafts picks; the Big 12 is second with 18, followed by the Big East (16), SEC (15), Pac-12 (12) and the Big Ten (5).

*The ACC has had at least one first round draft pick in 24 consecutive NBA drafts and in 41 of the past 42 years.

*North Carolina has had multiple first round selections 10 times … Duke has had four first round selections the past two years … the Tar Heels had four players selected in the first round for the second time in eight years … Rivers and Plumlee became the 24th and 25th players under Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski selected in the first round of the NBA Draft ... Coach K has now had more NBA first round draft selections than any other coach in NCAA history.

*With the selection of Bernard James by Cleveland, with the third pick of the second round, Florida State has had at least one player drafted in eight of the last nine NBA drafts.
