Will It Be Music City Bowl Or Independence Bowl For Georgia Tech?

Bowl announcements will be made official tonight, but many athletic departments have a pretty good idea of where they are heading.

Georgia Tech finished the season 7-5, 5-3 in ACC games and will be making their 17th straight bowl appearance somewhere. Obviously, FSU is heading to the BCS Championship Game possibly opening a spot for a 2nd ACC team in the BCS. Clemson is lobbying hard for the Orange Bowl and considering that bowl's ties to the conference it would seem very hard for them to pass over the Tigers.

The Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta has the next selection within the ACC and any team finishing 5-3 or above in league regular season play is eligible. If Tech had beaten Georgia last week I think this bowl would jump at the Yellow Jackets but history says a loss against the Bulldogs knocks GT out of this bowl selection. My guess here is Miami. UGA is a strong possibility to be the opponent as the Bulldogs will very likely be here or in the Gator Bowl.

Ga. Tech has been to the Sun Bowl two years in a row so no trip back to the El Paso. This bowl is locked into taking the ACC Championship Game loser if they are not already selected.

So where will the Yellow Jackets end up?

A little Twitter research revealed this nugget:

Who is Gregg Garrett you ask? Just a large donor and friend of Tech head coach Paul Johnson.

Then again, if the Jackets aren't going to Nashville he has the dispensable cash anyways.

My guess is Tech fans would be jumping at the chance to face an SEC team, very likely to be Ole Miss, in nearby Nashville.
